Your skin can be tested prior to the treatment, with the full procedure conducted on the same day if desired. A topical anaesthetic cream is available if you wish your skin numb for the treatment. The cream needs to be applied one hour prior to the laser skin treatment.

The procedure for each treatment varies on the skin being treated. A small hand-piece with a distance gauge about the size of a 20 cent piece touches the skin to deliver the laser pulse, which feels like a rubber-band flicking the skin. Almost simultaneously a light spray of coolant is felt on the skin: most Clients experience little discomfort at the treatment site because of Candela's Dynamic Cooling Device. The procedure can take as little as 10 minutes depending on the area treated. Your skin usually becomes pink or red following treatment, which fades during the following minutes or hours with the application of soothing gel.

We consider the Vbeam Laser safe. In fact, pulsed dye laser treatment is so safe that is has been used successfully for the treatment of port wine stains in infants and young children. The epidermis is protected during the treatment by Candela's unique dynamic cooling method, which sprays a cooling mist onto the skin. This also reduces the risk of blistering, purpura and pigment changes.
