We offer safety eyewear to protect your eyes from the laser light during the procedure. We can test your skin’s reaction prior to the treatment, with the full treatment undertaken on the same day if desired. A topical anaesthetic cream is available if you wish your skin numb for the treatment. The cream needs to be applied one hour prior to the laser hair removal.

The procedure for each laser treatment varies with the amount of hair treated. Essentially, a small hand-piece with a distance gauge about the size of a 20 cent piece touches the skin to deliver the laser pulse, which feels like a rubber-band flicking the skin. Almost simultaneously a light spray of coolant is felt on the skin: most Clients experience nothing more than a little discomfort because of this dynamic cooling device. The procedure can take as little as 10 minutes depending on the area treated. Your skin usually becomes pink or red following treatment, which fades during the following minutes or hours with the application of soothing gel.

The number of treatments required for permanent hair removal depends upon your skin colour, hair colour and coarseness of hair. Everyone will require at least three to five treatments as the process is only effective on hair during the early growing cycle. Top-up treatments may be required to remove any dormant follicles at a later time.

For your own safety, Cosmetic Laserbeam urges all Clients to take precautions prior to any laser hair removal treatment. You should avoid the sun four to six weeks before and after treatment. You must avoid electrolysis, plucking or waxing hair for six weeks prior to treatment. You must avoid bleaching, solariums and spray tanning prior to treatment. If you have a history of peri-oral herpes, prophylactic antiviral therapy may be prescribed.
